PSYCHOLOGY/COUNSELING INTERNSHIP

Opportunities to research and assist others researching social basis of problems of marital rape, date rape and incest and victims’ reactions, feelings and trauma.

No one-on-one counseling BUT:

-Conscientious psychology and counseling students come to us frequently because they know that they will be on the front-line and to be responsible they need this background.

-Psychology interns will answer letter and information requests from marital and date rape victims, including calls which come randomly

-Good research and informational background/training for those who might do one-on-one counseling in the future to facilitate understanding of what is happening to their client, especially if they do court case tracking.

Note: there is no professional psychology staff to supervise graduate students.

The National Clearinghouse on Marital and Date Rape, a project of the former Women’s History Research Center, is an organization of consultants, researchers, speakers, and resources for legal and medical advocates, writers, the media, students, and concerned campus and community people.

Hours: Negotiable between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m, weekdays and weekends.

Salary: All internships are volunteer. Academic credit is often available and internships can be geared to career goals.
